Audit Trails That Hold Up in Court Disputes

When a partner is asked to prove what happened on a particular date, the audit trail is the difference between a clean answer and a costly one.

Every once in a while, a chamber gets called to defend its own conduct. Maybe it's a fee dispute, maybe a Bar Council enquiry, maybe a former client claiming they were never informed of an adjournment. In every one of these, the firm's records are on trial.

If the records are paper, the firm is at the mercy of whichever partner remembers what happened. If they're in the platform, every state change has a timestamp, an actor, and a reason.

Three properties of a defensible audit trail

AssociatesDiary's hearing audit trail satisfies all three by construction. Every adjournment writes a previous-next-date entry that's immutable; every note edit produces a versioned diff; every status change is signed by the user. When the questions come, the answers are already there.
